We bought Flyer and his mother, Ystrad Dewi Brenhines, from their breeder Lloyd Jones on Friday 13 June 1986. It was our lucky day! We had bid for Flyer at the Autumn Sales but he did not reach his reserve. When we saw him at Lampeter Show in the Spring he looked much much better than the colt foal that we had ended up buying at the Sales. Our first show was Northleach where he won the Yearling Colt Class, our first in-hand win, and was unbeaten for the rest of the season.He loved showing, had extravagant action and was very successful in youngstock classes before taking up driving in private and wagon classes. As a mature stallion we again showed him in-hand with regular successes. A few years ago Flyer competed in a strong veterans class and demonstrated the same action, prescence and enthusiasm as when he was a two year old. And, of course, he won! His progeny are: Rainhill Eclipse, Fireaway, Firefly, Flyaway, Flyer, High Flyer, King Flyer. Llewelyn, Rambo, Sundance and Trefrifawr Sian. In June 2013 Flyer, then 28, became a proud father again, producing a black colt foal for Sally Barlow out of her driving mare, Brickell Little Gem (148198). We really look forward to seeing Weirbank Flyers Last in driving classes. Sadly Flyer died at the grand age of 31 in 2016.
